London: The UK Information Commission has imposed a penalty of ₹ 5 crores on Facebook users for using their users without permission.
The Facebook company was accused of using the user’s information without their consent from 2007 to 2017. The Cambridge Analytics, a US-based election campaign, accused the Facebook user of using information on the election campaign. The case was filed by the UK Information Commission on Facebook.
In this case, the UK Information Commission has imposed a penalty of ₹ 5 crore for Facebook users in their application without their consent.
The UK Information Commission has stated in its verdict: The user has been accused of using the information without their consent for Facebook, according to the UK Information Rules Act, A fine of ₹ 5 crores is imposed.
The information collected through the various activities used in the Facebook company is used for election propaganda, without users’ permission. The Facebook company has failed to protect users’ privacy information.
Facebook has not taken any relief operations since it was released in December 2015. It is noteworthy that by the end of 2018, SCCL, the original company of Cambridge Analytics, was not removed from the Facebook site. Thus the judgment is stated.
